Helping hands
Hands played a major role in a business networking meeting with a difference led by solicitors Chenery Maher recently.
Along with partner, Janet Helm of Purple Willow estate agents, Irene Chenery and Carol Maher invited a small number of ladies to a hands-on evening, which began at their Church Street offices with champagne and canapés, proceeding to the York Clinic.
The guests enjoyed manicures, reflexology and a taster session of hypnotherapy while trained medical staff offered advice on laser treatment, botox and other advanced anti-ageing techniques.
Complementing the holistic treatments available at the clinic, the ladies also enjoyed the services of a palm reader, ‘Spooky Liz’, whom they all found to be uncannily accurate.
Carol Maher, a specialist in family law, explained “It’s useful to mix with other professionals in a social context like this in order to gain a greater understanding of each other’s businesses. There are many women in this area who are keen to step outside the formal structure of business networking of seminars and conferences, to explore links with other companies in a more relaxed setting. Traditionally, sporting activities such as golf, shooting and racing have tended to be the arena for this kind of activity, but we feel that this kind of get-together is more suited to the interests of busy professional women.”
Carol and Irene are also joint-chair of the award-winning local fundraisers, Ribble Valley & White Rose Ladies who have raised in excess of half a million pounds for research into children’s cancers with an innovative program of social events. Their next luncheon on 6th February at Mitton Hall features speaker Mr Dalal, an eminent plastic surgeon. Contact Carol Maher on 01200 422264 for details of this and other RV&WRL events.
