LEGAL LADIES RAISE THOUSANDS FOR CHARITY

The ladies of Clitheroe solicitors Irene Chenery Maher have been busy in their own time this year raising impressive amounts for charity.

Last month the firm’s receptionist, Sue Worrall, raised £250 in a grueling four hour aerobic session ‘aeromothon’ at Whalley village hall and Jenny Hebson took part in a reverse bungee to raise money for the renal unit of Pendleside Hospice.

Partners of the practice, Irene Chenery and Carol Maher also work together as joint chair of Ribble Valley Ladies formed in 1998. Along with their sister body, White Rose Ladies in Yorkshire, the combined charity has raised almost £450,000 for research into children’s cancers. Their recent ‘Putting on the Ritz’ ball raised £20,000 and a further £3000 was added to the total at their charity Christmas market on 3rd December.

“Its hard work organizing large events like this, but we have a great team behind us and its very different from the type of work we do for clients”, says Carol, who specialises in family law.

Irene, who manages the conveyancing, wills and probate work at the practice adds “We are always looking for new members for Ribble Valley Ladies to volunteer their time and new ideas for fundraising events. Anyone interested in becoming a member, can call us on 01200 422264”.
