On target for charity
£1857.30 was raised at an annual shooting event organised by Chenery Maher Solicitors to support the Ribble Valley & White Rose Ladies work in fundraising for Cancer Research UK.
The event was hosted by Nick Starkie at Huntroyde Estate at Simonstone in the picturesque Forest of Bowland.
Visitors enjoyed a day of varied activity and competitions in the secluded mature deciduous woodland of the family estate. Guests of all ages were able to experience the excitement of a traditional hunting day in the country with a 30 clay shoot, a spectacular 'flush', novice stand, air rifle range, bagatelle, welly wanging, splay the rat and archery.
A barbecue was held, drinks served in the hospitality cabin and the rain held off for most of the day.
Novice Janet Helme who only started shooting earlier this year won the ladies competition and her partner Martin Elworthy, a former world champion, scored a perfect round.
Since the first RV&WRL event five years ago the annual shoot has grown in size and popularity and The Huntroyde Estate has developed an enviable reputation as a licensed simulated shooting ground for corporate hospitality and private parties all year round.
The charity event was sponsored Barden Mill Stores and the archery was provided by Outdoor Elements.
