FUNDS RAISED FOR LOCAL CHARITY!
We raised £1,000 for Age UK Lancashire by hosting an exhibition of work by prominent local artists, sculptor Clare Bigger and painter Jo Taylor. The money, paid by Irene and Carol to Age UK’s Geraldine Moore, will be used to help older people across the county to make more of life. The event was such a success, and the funds raised will be put to such good use, we are planning to hold other functions during 2012 and will keep you posted.
DO YOU WISH TO CONTRIBUTE TO BBC PANORAMA?
BBC Panorama would like contributions to a forthcoming programme which is going to be about difficulties parents are experiencing with the rising costs of childcare and particularly whether any parents have had to leave work because they can no longer afford to pay for childare. They are also interested in the sacrifices people are having to make to pay for childcare and want to know if any businesses are finding that workers are leaving because childcare is too expensive. WILLS DUMPED ON PAVEMENT
A will-writing company dumped 1,000 files containing wills & confidential information on a pavement after going out of business; many clients paid thousands of pounds for wills & trusts they never received. Other similar companies have been found to use high-pressure selling techniques & to sell services without full advice. This highlights the contrast with solicitors, who are regulated, have relevant qualifications, undergo continual training and must be insured to provide redress if things were to go wrong
